Customising Risk Weights

Adjust how much each dimension contributes to your composite score.

TekPulse ships with sensible default weights (Regulatory 30%, Market 25%, Technical 20%, Geopolitical 15%, Environmental 10%) tuned for general-purpose electronics teams. But what counts as "risky" depends on your company — a medical-device manufacturer cares far more about regulatory than a hobbyist board house.

Where to find it

Settings → Risk Scoring. The Risk Dimension Weights panel shows five sliders — one per dimension. The sum must equal 100% (a live validator turns the bar green when valid, red when not).

Suggested presets

Medical / Aerospace
Regulatory 45%, Technical 25%, Market 15%, Geopolitical 10%, Environmental 5%.
Automotive
Regulatory 30%, Market 25%, Technical 25%, Geopolitical 15%, Environmental 5%.
Consumer electronics
Market 35%, Technical 25%, Regulatory 20%, Geopolitical 15%, Environmental 5%.
EU / sustainability-led
Environmental 30%, Regulatory 30%, Market 20%, Technical 10%, Geopolitical 10%.
Defence / dual-use
Geopolitical 40%, Regulatory 25%, Technical 15%, Market 15%, Environmental 5%.

Severity floors override custom weights. A component with any single dimension at 90+ is always CRITICAL, and 70+ is always at least HIGH. This is by design — you cannot mask a sanctioned manufacturer by zeroing out the regulatory weight.

When changes take effect

New weights apply on the next re-assessment of each BOM. Existing scores do not recompute automatically — click "Re-assess" on the BOM detail page to apply the new weighting. The "What changed?" view will show every component that moved tiers due to the new weights.
